UNMC and NACDS Focus Group on Pharmacy-Based Rapid Diagnostic Testing

NACCHO is working with researchers from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Pharmacy and the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation to explore the feasibility and viability of bringing influenza and strep A rapid diagnostic testing to community pharmacies. Project leads are coordinating focus groups in six states, which will convene local and state health department representatives, as well as pharmacy stakeholders. NACCHO staff attended the first focus group in Lansing, Michigan on July 17th. Dr. Ali Khan, MPH, the new dean of the UNMC School of Public Health and former director of the CDC’s Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response, acted as keynote speaker.
