Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) April Report

During the month of April, PPHR staff held the Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) Recognition Reception in conjunction with the 2015 Preparedness Summit in Atlanta, GA, to celebrate the accomplishments of the 23 newly PPHR recognized and re-recognized agencies. Dr. Swannie Jett, President-Elect of NACCHO and Dr. William Pilkington, chair of NACCHO’s Preparedness Planning, Outcomes and Measurement Workgroup, took part in the ceremony as each agency received a plaque to commemorate their achievement.  PPHR staff also held a learning session at the Preparedness Summit for PPHR state leads to share their experiences using PPHR as a framework for improved coordination of state and local public health preparedness planning.

Also in April, staff continued to provide technical assistance to agencies undergoing the resubmission process and to agencies submitting applications in fall 2015. In addition, staff collaborated with the newly PPHR re-recognized agency LENOWISCO District Health to draft a Story from Field highlighting how going through the PPHR recognition process made their agency better able to prepare for, respond to, and recover from a disaster in their community. PPHR staff continue to recruit new states to participate in PPHR’s state-supported model.
