The Preparedness Policy Advisory Group (PPAG) held its monthly call on Jan. 8. The original chair, Chris Hoff, who held this title since the inception of the workgroup, resigned from his role and has accepted the position of Assistant Director of Adult Health at DuPage County (IL) Health Department. Michael “Mac” McClendon, Director of the Office of Public Health Preparedness & Response at Harris County Public Health & Environmental Services in Houston, has accepted the position of chair of the PPAG. Paulette Valentine, Emergency Preparedness Director at Southwest Utah Public Health Department in Saint George, UT has accepted the position of vice chair of the PPAG. Additionally, the workgroup welcomed a new member, Holley Rose, the Preparedness Coordinator/Environmental Health Specialist and Medical Reserve Corps Unit Leader, from Ripley County Health Department, in Versailles, IN.
During this January’s call, the group received an information update on the National Health Security Strategy from Lara Lamprecht at the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response. Finally, the group engaged in a discussion around public health emergency preparedness funding formula differences between states and locals. The next call will be on Feb. 12.
