Institute of Medicine BioWatch Meeting

Highlights: Meeting attendees discussed strategies to ensure coordination between federal agencies and state and local government in the development of guidance on how to respond to a biological incident. Further, attendees examined what guidance exists for state and local authorities on how they should respond if following a BioWatch incident. Federal agencies also explained what their responsibilities are following a BioWatch incident, and asked participants to consider the challenges associated with current guidance and explore opportunities to improve. Leadership will explore convening a workgroup to tackle the issues further in-depth.
