The Preparedness Policy Advisory Group (PPAG) held its monthly call on October 14. During this call, Janice Yun from FEMA, provided an informational update on the Procurement under Grants for Public Assistance Policy and the use of the Procurement Disaster Assistance team (PDAT). In addition, Meredith Li-Vollmer, Communication Specialist from Public Health – Seattle & King County provided an overview of risk communication. This presentation looked at the meaning of risk communication, how individuals gauge risk and what that means for a communication strategy, and provided key communication considerations for crisis situations. Other discussions included the Notice of Comment Period for Active Monitoring of Travelers Coming from Ebola-affected Countries, the 2016 Preparedness Summit, and ASPR’s National Health Security Strategy (NHSS) awards. The November PPAG call is canceled due to Veteran’s Day. The next PPAG call is scheduled for Wednesday, December 9.
