NACCHO to host Point-of-Dispensing Exercise at the 2014 Preparedness Summit

NACCHO will host a lunch-time Point-of-dispensing (POD) exercise at the 2014 Preparedness Summit to showcase innovative practices, resources, and techniques for planning and implementing PODs. While being “dispensed” their boxed lunches, participants will go through a POD and experience a series of educational stations that will show these innovative resources in action and demonstrate how health departments can adopt new practices into their medical countermeasure planning and implementation efforts.

Exercise Objectives:

  • Identify innovative practices to showcase during the following stages of the POD process: registration, screening, and dispensing.
  • Provide opportunities to test new or novel approaches to POD operations.
  • Educate participants through a hands-on POD exercise that will take place during lunch one day at the 2014 Preparedness Summit.
  • Increase awareness of PODs to our preparedness (non-public health) colleagues.
  • Provide a toolkit to participants at the Preparedness Summit, so that they can incorporate these innovative strategies within their jurisdiction.

Join the Fun: Call for Innovative Practices

Have an innovative POD idea or practice? Submit your idea for consideration in the POD exercise! We are also looking for individuals who are interested and willing to help with the execution of the POD exercise. Email Andy Roszak to find out more and get involved.

I am registered for the SUMMIT to be held in Atlanta in April
I have tried to register for the POD exercise but it doesn’t appear in the drop down of session to add to my schedule.

      Hi Sonia,

It looks like the instructions that were provided were for adding a workshop to your registration. The POD exercise is not considered a workshop and can be added at a different spot on the registration form. If you log in to edit your registration, you can add the POD toward the end of the registration form, right after the continuing education credits and before the Privacy Policy. I’ve added a screenshot to this comment:

I apologize for the confusion and please let us know if you still experience difficulties adding the POD exercise to your registration.

        Hi Frances,
I’m trying to sign up for the POD exercise using your instructions, but I’m stuck at the part about “edit”your registration. I’m already registered under full registration and looking at my registration sheet on line and there is no key to allow edit. Please advise. I know others must be having trouble signing up for POD exercise too1
