The Preparedness Policy Advisory Group (PPAG) held its monthly call on January 13. During this call, the workgroup welcomed new member Lisa Powell, Program Manager of Emergency Preparedness and Response at El Paso County Public Health (CO). In addition, Michele Askenazi, Director of Public Health Preparedness and Response from the Tri-County Health Department (CO) presented on the recovery and resiliency of a mass casualty incident. This presentation looked at how the local health department (LHD) responded and recovered from the 2012 Aurora movie theater shooting. Other presentations included an overview of NACCHO’s GIS mapping and an update from NACCHO’s Government Affairs. The meeting closed with preparedness updates including new funding opportunities from the Lessons in INfection Control (LINC) Initiative, a request for feedback on the Health People 2020 objective summary and a request for pandemic flu plans. The next PPAG call is scheduled for Wednesday, February 10.
