Webinar: Zoning Code and Comprehensive Plan Strategies for Climate Resilience
December 11 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Planning and zoning are important tools for communities to address climate vulnerabilities and build resilience. Land use, transportation, public health, the built environment, and more can be addressed through codes, ordinances, incentives, and other local government strategies. The Sustainable Development Code is a new, online tool that offers best practices for communities of all sizes to integrate environmental sustainability and climate resilience into zoning codes and comprehensive plans. Through 32 chapters on topics ranging from floodplain and river corridor land use to solar energy, the Sustainable Development Code website provides concrete ways for communities to amend development codes, adapt to changes as they occur, and be proactive. Join Jonathan Rosenbloom, visiting professor at the Vermont Law School and executive director of the Sustainable Development Code, as he discusses how local governments can build more resilient communities through planning and zoning.
