Legal Preparedness Webinar Series: Emergency Management Assistance Compact: Legal Considerations in 90 Minutes
October 17 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Governors Association, and American Bar Association announced the launch of a four-part webinar series, “Preparedness and Response for Public Health Emergencies: Exploring the Role of Law,” which will explore legal preparedness for public health emergencies. The series aims to provide a more in depth look into the common legal challenges posed by public health emergencies.
The second webinar will be led by representatives from states participating in the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), who will explain the mechanisms and requirements states can use to request and supply aid under EMAC. During the second half of the webinar, they will discuss liability protections for volunteers acting as “agents of the state” and identify states who have extended protection to volunteers responding in emergencies.
