From emerging infectious diseases and catastrophic natural disasters to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear agents, our nation’s threat environment continues to evolve. CDC’s Public Health Emergency Law Online Course helps to ensure your agency’s emergency law savvy evolves with it.

Launched in 2007 and now available online, the course prepares state, tribal, local, and territorial public health practitioners to make informed legal decisions related to emergency preparedness and response activities in their jurisdictions. Previously available as an in-person training only, the three-unit online course now delivers the same quality content in an accessible, virtual format.

The course covers the domains of the Public Health Emergency Law Competency Model in three units: Unit 1 – Introduction to Emergency Management Systems Preparedness and Response; Unit 2 – Emergency Powers: Protection of Persons, Volunteers, and Responders; and Unit 3 – Emergency Powers: Management and Protection of Property and Supplies. Each unit only takes about 40 minutes to complete.
