Several NACCHO staff attended the 2014 Preparedness, Emergency Response, and Recovery Consortium (PERRC) April 14-16 in Orlando, FL. The conference examined lessons learned from recent disasters, including the May 2013 Oklahoma tornadoes, the September 2013 Colorado floods, and the March 2014 Oso mudslide. NACCHO staff met with a number of local health department staff and Medical Reserve Corps unit leaders and volunteers in attendance. Following the PERRC conference, NACCHO MRC staff conducted a site visit at the nearby Central Florida MRC headquarters.
Additionally, NACCHO’s Senior Director of Preparedness Programs, Scott Fisher, presented an e-poster on NACCHO’s work in administrative preparedness on the second day of the PERRC conference. The presentation focused on NACCHO’s four administrative preparedness reports examining authorities, procurement, workforce, and reporting.
